The new steel container features a plastic lid and easy to use handle which enables the product to be viewed. A small funnel shaped convex opening in the ring allows the product to be poured, simplifying pet meal time.
Pet owners are concerned with keeping their pets food crunchy and dry for a longer time. The new packaging aims to meet this growing demand from pet owners for a convenient manner to conserve the original freshness of their animals food while it is being consumed. The pet food Croc Baby Vegetables, manufactured by Socil, a subsidiary of the French group Evialis has adopted the steel can to guarantee a competitive edge over other products found on the shelves today to gain confidence of the consumer pet owners.
benefits:This new packaging serves as a barrier against absorption of moisture and prevents insects and rodents from getting to the product due to the can’s superior sealing power especially when compared to conventional packagings.
market response:Croc Baby Vegetables is on sale throughout Brazil and has been well received in the markets in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, according to Ricardo Franklin de Mello, Manager of the Pet food Market at Socil Evialis Brasil. “Since this is a novel idea, the can attracts the consumer, because the packaging conveys a very modern image.” According to the manager, “We plan to continue using the steel can as a promotional hook to leverage the Croc sales line as well as the other Socil brands.”
materials & dimensions:
The inside of the can including the lid and bottom are lined with a special gold colored varnish, which is appropriate for withstanding the elements of the laundry room environment. Moreover, the conventional welded side seam used on the body of the can has been replaced by a cemented side seam also to endure this harsh environment.
specific features:
The can has an exclusive closure system comprising a transparent plastic lid, inspired by the Brasilata Biplus WPO – World Organization – WPO award winning Closure, which enables the product to be seen. The new closure, which is named Bat-plus®, has a ring cord located on the outside, to help prevent retention of product in the inside of the can during use. The ring is also slightly tapered (in the shape of a funnel) to help guide the flow of the packed product and is made of a reinforced steel sheet (.27mm thick), produced by CSN. A new plastic lid was developed for this innovative ring, suitable for the external cord.
finishes:
The can is decorated with lithographic printing.
