3- piece beverage can
Two types of shaped coffee cans developed by Toyo Seikan have been on the market since September 2001. These cans are shaped into a cup profile and make the consumers feel like they are drinking from a cup.
benefits:The necking in of the cans allows stackability.
market response:From the initial stage of the commercial launch, the coffee products filled in these cans have been very successful in product differentiation. Even with its premium retail price, the value added to UCC by the can profile and coffee quality was well accepted by retailers.
materials & dimensions:
3-piece cans. The shaped cans are produced by mechanically expanding the straight walls of welded cans. The tool on the rotary expander is inserted into the straight cylinder and expanded to shape it to the desired profile. The expansion ratio is up to 13% and simply changing the profile of the expander tool can produce a variety of can profiles.
